Variations on a Theme
Roses, Roses, Roses! I thought I had seen them all but this one in the Tambo Roses booth (WFE '09 #816) took me completely by surprise!
I thought it was ranunculus at first glance but upon closer viewing and with explanation from the Tambo staff I realized that it was indeed a red and green rose named "Xmas", and so rare that Tambo was the only company growing it in Ecuador last year.
With upcoming Christmas, New Year's, and Valentine's celebrations this winter I'm sure floral retailers will have a plethora of roses, in all shapes, sizes, colors, and price ranges - from all around the world - so all their Flower Lovers can find the perfect blooms to embellish their gatherings. WFFSA just announced that its gallery with over 2500 flower varieties from over 40 of the world's leading breeders has received some cool new upgrades. Now, along with a photo of the individual flower there is more data that may include: breeder, variety, color, number of petals, vase life, fragrance, flower size, and more. WFFSA's fully developed data base is available to member wholesalers as a sales and educational tool for communicating with their retailers. See www.wffsa.org for details.
