Uncover Your Hidden Attraction to Flowers!

You can't help yourself - you're flower lover ...
At least now you'll know why.

Dear Flower Lover,

Have you ever been lured in to closely inspect a big beautiful vase of flowers in a hotel lobby? Have you ever lingered far too long over the selection of blooms at your favorite floral retailer's? If you answered "Yes", you're a flower lover.

When you have to offer a commemorative gift of love, appreciation, or congratulations are flowers the first thing that you think of? Do you think it's silly when others suggest a more "practical gift" that would lasts longer than the blooms? If you answered "Yes", you're a flower lover.

Do you get such a thrill when you arrange a big vase of flowers that you want to take your time and let the process unfold slowly? Or, maybe you get the urge to take it apart and start all over again! Do you want to share your love of flowers with others so they can experience the same passion for these precious petals as you experience? If you answered "Yes", you're a flower lover.

But, what is it, that makes you such a flower lover?

"Like the musician, the painter, the poet, and the rest
the true lover of flowers is born, not made. And he is
born to happiness in this vale of tears, to a certain amount
of the purest joy that earth can give her children,
joy that is tranquil, innocent, uplifting, unfading"
Celia Thaxter

Well, one thing is for sure - You are not alone. Everybody I know loves flowers. I am a thirty plus year veteran of the floral industry and long ago I realized that I should put my ego aside when it came to accepting compliments for my work. It became apparent to me early on that it wasn't my work people were admiring - it was the flowers themselves!

Every time I deliver flowers to a client, friend, or family member it takes me forever to get from the parking lot to the building, or up the elevator from one floor to another, or from room to room in an office complex because absolutely everyone has to stop me, look the flowers over, ooohh and aahhh, smell them, and finally tease "Oh! Are They for ME?"!

Several years ago I was delivering two vases of altar flowers when a woman called out and ran across the church parking lot from her car, exclaiming how beautiful the arrangements were, and asking if she could inspect them closer! I was so flattered! She "OOOOOOOHED" and "AAAAAAAHED" for a couple of seconds, asked what kind of flowers they were, mentioned how beautiful they were, and complimented me on the designs.

She meant to stroke my ego but it was just crushed - because what she was looking at was the backs of the displays - that I had carefully packed into a box in order to deliver them safely! What impressed this woman so much was just the glory of the flowers themselves - not my styling skills.

"One of the most attractive things about flowers
is their beautiful reserve."
Henry David Thoreau

Other people may not "get" the intrinsic value that you understand flowers have. You just love having flowers around you. They lift your spirits and put you in a great mood.

Did you know that two universities actually did studies on the effects of flowers on people? Yep, Texas A&M University did a study on flowers in the workplace and found that "flowers and plants improve workplace productivity". And, Rutgers University did a study on how flowers effect our emotions and scientifically proved that "flowers make us happier".

But you don't need science to prove something that you have realized inherently all along. You have the heart of a poet ... the knowing of a writer ... the wisdom of a sage. You know ... that flowers are not a luxury but a necessity for life.

"Flowers are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty
out values all the utilities of the world."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

You don't need others to validate your passion for flowers. And yet, it would be nice to know that there are others who feel moved the way you do at the glance of a rose petal or the waft of freesia in a room. Flowers Are Love's Truest Language is a simple little gift book filled with floral quotes, poems, and passages from mostly famous (and some not so famous) people who are just as crazy for flowers as you are.

The floral quotes, poems, and passages will make you aware of the fundamental, ongoing relationship between flowers and humanity. It will help you understand why you have such a fondness for flowers.
